Top of Foot Pain – Major Causative Agents

The condition seems to be affected greater percentages of the world population.  This is a condition that was seen as being tied to those who are pretty active at first. This was a misconception. This condition affects many people from all parts of the globe.  Toe and heel pains can be properly diagnosed at home. However, in this case where the pain emanates from the top of the foot, it is harder to find the cause.  Many people have not really come to terms with the suggested causes and treatments of the same.

The condition can be caused by single trauma of the feet.  In this case, the foot pain occurs on the metatarsal bones.  This is most prevalent in the fourth metatarsal.  Foot tendonitis is another major causative agent of the top of foot pain condition.  This is mainly tied to the overuse of the feet.  This condition causes much visible inflammation. The pain in the foot is mainly characterized by a stabbing and tingling pain on the upper part of the foot.

The mid tarsal fault also causes instep pain on top of the foot.  It is as a result of the damages of the bones through misuse or overuse.  The tarsal fault is as a result of the knocking of the toes thus straining the joints.  This then graduates to bone spurs.  The condition is relevant with flat fallen arches and flat feet.  One feels much pain when walking barefoot.  Nerve entrapment can be caused as a result of this.  The trapped nerve is a situation where the nerves in the feet get pinched in a joint. This can also occur as a result of intense pressure on the nerves.

Superficial phlebitis and ganglion cyst are also well known causes of these pains.  The ganglion cyst is probably the one cause of pain on top of foot that can be easily identified.  It does not in itself cause the pain on the foot although may press on adjacent nerves thus causing strain and stress.  On the other hand, superficial phlebitis is mainly associated with the inflammation of the veins.   The inflammation in most cases is as a result of a blood clot.
